Geoff Greer

CEO & Co-founder

I’ve been writing code since I was 12. Previous places I’ve worked at include Bloglines and Cloudkick. Rackspace acquired Cloudkick in December of 2010, which is where I worked until starting Floobits with Matt.

In my spare time, I wrote The Silver Searcher, a text-searching tool similar to Ack but 10x faster. It’s now one of the most-watched C projects on GitHub. To see more stuff by me, check out my GitHub and my personal website.

I co-founded CloudFab, a 3D printing startup in Pittsburgh, which was acquired by Vistatek and Ponoko. After that, I moved to San Francisco to work for Rackspace which is where I met Geoff.

I climb stuff in my spare time.

We’re making Floobits to solve our own problem. We’ve worked together for almost two years now, and much of that time has been spent pair programming. We couldn’t find a real-time collaboration tool that met our needs. Web apps force us to give up our highly-customized native editors.

Since we couldn’t find a product that let us collaborate in our favorite editors, we decided to build one. We hope our solution helps you as much as it has helped us.

If you’d like to see some of our code, check out the Floobits GitHub organization.
